Christmas Storytelling Competition

To celebrate the opening of our Christmas show Arabian Nights, we’ve launched a storytelling competition for children aged 7-11 years old.

In Arabian Nights, Es-Sindibad the Sailor says that on his travels he exchanged some of his diamonds for a flying carpet. If you had a flying carpet where would you go? Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen? Ancient Egypt to see the pyramids? Or even into outer space to fly amongst the stars?

Write us a short story about your magical journey in no more than 300 words and decorate it with a drawing of you and your flying carpet. Then submit it to us on A4 size paper with your name, age, address and contact telephone number on the back.

The winner will be picked by our director Amy Leach and the story will be published in the Manchester Evening News, on our website and printed in the Arabian Nights programme.

Not only that the winner will also receive a family ticket for the show (worth £54) including a free signed programme and a chance to meet the cast.

Want to enter?

Entries need to be sent by post to Alex Bond at Cornerhouse, 70 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5NH. The closing date is Mon 12 November.

Arabian Nights runs from Fri 30 Nov 2012 – Sat 12 Jan 2013. Tickets are available here or from The Lowry Box Office on 0843 208 6010.

Please note we can not guarantee the return of the original story and artwork.
